Patrícia Quinta | Mezzo-soprano
Born in Porto, Patrícia Quinta graduated in Lied and Oratory at the University of Music and Performing Arts of Vienna (2007) and has a bachelor's degree in Theatrical Singing from the Superior Conservatory of Music of Gaia (2002), in the class of Fernanda Correia. During her training, she studied with Margit Klaushofer, specialising in Lied and Oratorical with Charles Spencer and in Opera with Reto Nickler, having also worked with Ulf Bästlein, Enza Ferrari, Elsa Saque, Laura Sarti, Rudolf Piernay, Grace Bumbry, Hilde Zadek and Christa Ludwig. She has performed in several operas, such as, among many others, the interpretation of Sibila, in the world premiere of the opera The Three Women with Iron Masks, with music by Eurico Carrapatoso and libretto by Agustina Bessa-Luís, in a co-production of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Teatro Aberto, directed by João Lourenço and João Paulo Santos. She received the Bocage award for singer revelation in the Luísa Todi 2003 National Singing Competition. She graduated in Psychology from the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of University of Porto (2002) and she is currently a Singing Teacher in the Music Academy of Vilar do Paraíso and in the Cultural Forum of Gulpilhares. |
Joaquim Pereira | Transversal Flute
He started his studies at the Music Conservatory of Porto, in the Transversal Flute class of Eduardo Lucena, having concluded the course with Olavo Tengner Barros. He also worked with Trevor Wye, Herbert Weissberg, Marcos Fregnani, Michel Debost and Vicente Prats. He has several collaborations, among which the collaboration with the Metropolitan Academic Orchestra in the Orchestra Direction Training, directed by Maestro Jean Sebastian Bereau, with the Madeira Classical Orchestra and the Guimarães Studio Orchestra, both directed by Maestro Rui Massena, as well as the participation in the elaboration of CDs by renowned singers in the national panorama (Clã, Vozes da Rádio, Expensive Soul, Da Weasel). He taught at the Academies of Paredes, Oliveira de Azeméis and at the Music Conservatory Calouste Gulbenkian of Braga, and is currently teaching at the Music Academy of Vilar do Paraíso (AMVP). He also directs the AMVP's Transversal Flute Ensemble, with whom he was awarded the 1st prize at the European Youth Music Festival in Neerpelt (Belgium). He has a Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the Superior Institute of Engineering of Porto. |
Augusto Pacheco | Guitar
He started his musical studies at the Music Academy of Vilar do Paraíso. He graduated from the Superior School of Music and Performing Arts of Porto in the class of José Pina. During his music training, he studied at the Conservatoire National d'Aubervillier - where he obtained the Premier Prix in the Superior Course of Guitar in the class of Alberto Ponce -, the École Normale de Musique de Paris, the Conservatoire Municipal Claude Debussy, where he studied with Ilton Wjunisky, participating in the presentation of the opera Dido and Aeneas of H. Purcell. At the University of Aveiro, he completed his Master’s Degree and his PhD, under the guidance of Paulo Vaz de Carvalho and Maestro José Luis Borges Coelho. He has worked with Robert Brightmore, Leo Brouwer, Abel Carlevaro, Jozef Zsapka, Betho Davezac, David Russel and Roland Dyens. Performing regularly as a soloist, he has worked with several orchestras, such as the National Orchestra of Porto, the Classical Orchestra of Madeira, Esproarte, Filamonia das Beiras and the Russian Orchestra Silver Strings. He is a founding member of the Quarteto de Guitarras Parnaso, the Trio Sons Portucalenses and the Duo Soledade. He founded and directs the Guitar Orchestra of the Music Academy of Vilar do Paraíso, with whom he participated in the European Festival of Music for Young People in Neerpelt (Belgium), winning the 1st Prize Cum Laude (2002, 2011 and 2015). He also won 1st Prize in the Guitar Orchestras-Gofi Contest in Bad Neuheim-Frankfurt (2006) and in the International Competition Cidade do Fundão (2015). In 2002/2003 he directed the Oporto Plectrum Orchestra and he is guest conductor of the Portuguese Orchestra of Guitars and Mandolins. He is a teacher at the Music Academy of Vilar do Paraíso, the Cultural Forum of Gulpilhares and the Jean Piaget Institute of Viseu. |
